A few days ago, Alonzo Smith, of Sauk Rapids, Benton county, while cutting hay with a mowing machine, unconsciously stepped in front of it, the horses started, and before he could get out of the way, the steele blade caught him, and cut the cord of the left foot above the heel, inflicting a terrible gash. Mr. Smith, it is thought, will be a cripple for life.
